Rob Whiteman was appointed in 2013 as Chief Executive the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA), the only professional accountancy body dedicated to strong public finances. Working with global donor bodies, governments, the firms, not for profit organisations and public services, CIPFA trainees and members operate around the world to further the public interest. In the UK, where it was formed in 1885, CIPFA is the accountancy standard setter for local services, with leading chief executive and chief finance officers amongst its members.
With over 25 years in leadership roles, Rob was previously a senior civil servant as Chief Executive of the UK Border Agency (UKBA) responsible for border security and immigration. Before this he worked as the Managing Director of the Improvement & Development Agency (IDeA), Chief Executive of the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham, and Deputy Chief Executive & Director of Resources at the London Borough of Lewisham.
Rob is a well-known international speaker and commentator on public financial management, leadership and good governance.
